Charles Kelley intends to continue performing during the initial six months of treatment for multiple myeloma, the rare blood cancer he revealed in an Instagram video with his wife Cassie, describing himself as feeling 'really hopeful' about his outlook. The Lady A vocalist, who co-founded the country trio in 2006, received the diagnosis after a series of unexplained rib fractures led his doctor to run blood tests. He assured fans that, apart from some difficult days, he expects to feel physically like himself throughout treatment.

Kelley noted that treatment options for multiple myeloma have advanced dramatically, adding that 'life expectancy far exceeds what it used to be.'

Drawing a parallel with his sobriety journey, the singer said 'getting this stuff off your chest is so freeing — it takes the power away from it.'

Lady A postponed their 2022 Request Line Tour after Kelley sought help for alcohol struggles; he is now applying the same 'one day at a time' outlook to his cancer fight.
