Larry the Downing Street cat is recovering well after being rushed to the vet earlier this week to have a cyst removed, sparking fresh concern among No 10 insiders who spotted the 19-year-old feline in a carrier. Photographs show him back on his feet, his midsection bearing a visible scar where the fur has been shaved. A Downing Street source said staff are grateful to vets for their 'outstanding care' of the much-loved chief mouser.
Larry has served at No 10 through every prime minister from David Cameron to Andy Burnham, reaching 15 years in the role in February 2026.
A Downing Street source quipped Larry is 'feline much better but taking things one paw at a time.'
