Laura Owens pleads guilty to faking twin pregnancy with 'Bachelor' star Clayton Echard and could face 12 years

Laura Owens, 36, daughter of San Francisco radio legend Ronn Owens, pleaded guilty Friday to four felony counts after fabricating pregnancies with two different men. She doctored another woman's ultrasound image of twins, created a fake pregnancy video, and lied under oath multiple times during paternity hearings in Maricopa County. Clayton Echard, who starred in season 26 of 'The Bachelor', was present in court as Owens admitted the fraud. She faces sentencing on October 23, with the first count alone carrying a possible 12-and-a-half-year prison term.
Ten of the original 14 felony charges were dropped under the plea deal, which also ends a parallel fraud case involving ex-boyfriend Gregory Gillespie.
Owens stole an ultrasound image posted online in 2014 by a grieving mother who had lost one of her twins, then texted it to Gillespie as proof of her own supposed twin pregnancy.
A witness allegedly claims that Ronn privately warned Owens' ex-boyfriend years before the scandal that Laura was prone to fabrication — a claim Ronn strongly denies.
