Lib Dem leader Ed Davey rules out a national deal with the Greens over their 'antisemitic' 'Zionism is racism' policy

Sir Ed Davey stopped short of telling his councillors to ditch existing local pacts with the Greens, the step Labour has already threatened. Writing to the Jewish Leadership Council and the Board of Deputies, he said he was 'appalled' and demanded the policy be reversed immediately. Green members backed the motion by 1,022 votes to 813 in Brighton on 4 October.

The Jewish Leadership Council says it still awaits word on Lib Dem council deals.

Ex-co-leader Adrian Ramsay urged Green councillors to reject the motion to stay in power.

Zack Polanski, who did not vote on it, says he will not seek to overturn it.
