Lib Dems accuse Farage of 'shoving' a female MP after he blamed an altercation for skipping the Budget
Nigel Farage posted on X about HMRC's power to seize money from bank accounts, as he defended staying away from the Budget chamber — claiming a taken prayer card signalled he was heading for another physical altercation.Daisy Cooper, whose party also accused Farage of having a record of 'bundling female journalists' at Reform's own conference.
Lib Dem deputy leader Daisy Cooper named Farage's alleged victim as a female colleague from her own party, saying he 'physically shoved' her out of the way at the state opening of Parliament on 13 May. Cooper admitted she did not witness the incident directly but said a male Lib Dem MP then challenged Farage over it. Parliament said Farage's prayer card was removed for lacking a valid timestamp, directly contradicting his claim that it was taken without cause.
Multiple MPs dismissed Farage's seating excuse: Rosie Duffield called it 'utter rubbish' and Tory Alicia Kearns called it 'total bull'.
Cooper pointedly noted Reform had its own record of 'bundling female journalists' at their party conference.
Farage's own words at his post-Budget press conference — 'I didn't want to, but I got involved in a physical altercation' — are now the basis of the shoving charge against him.
