Lidl's eight-item basket cost £12.97, just below Asda's £13.03. Aldi fell to third at £13.09 after its cheapest beef mince rose by 10p, a move Sainsbury's also made. Morrisons came fourth at £13.17, Sainsbury's fifth at £13.33 and Tesco last at £13.36. Shelf prices are running 2.5 per cent above last year's levels.
