'Like a baby tossing the toys': Canadian rocker Bryan Adams mocks Trump over Lake Ontario renaming in new song
Bryan Adams, who released the protest track on Wednesday, said the song is for "all the sane people on both shores who know the current madness will pass.Mark Carney whose defiant defence of the lake's name inspired Adams's lyric calling it "a first nations name — not an executive order.
Bryan Adams has released 'Lake Ontario', a defiant protest song targeting Trump's executive order renaming the Great Lake 'Lake America', timed to drop just days before the US midterm elections. The track, a digital bonus cut on his forthcoming album 'How's It Goin'' due November 6, links the renaming to the Iran war and Epstein files scrutiny, accusing Trump of political distraction without ever naming him directly.
The lyrics call the renaming "a real dog and pony show" while Epstein files were "getting traction" — a first nations name, Adams insists, not an executive order.
Adams said in a statement: "Empires and regimes, dictators and kings, they all come and go — Lake Ontario is forever."
Some fans hit back on X, with one writing "just sing and stop talking politics" and another quipping he "hasn't been relevant since the Summer of 69."
