Liverpool beat high-flying Brighton 2-0 at Anfield as Barcola repays Iraola's faith but Wirtz is forced off

Brighton had kept a clean sheet for more than nine hours across all competitions before Iraola's side scored twice in the space of four minutes. A deflection off Pascal Gross turned Florian Wirtz's 17th-minute effort into the net, denying him credit for the opener. Alexander Isak then headed home a Bradley Barcola cross for his sixth goal in seven league games. Fabian Hurzeler's side had arrived as the top flight's leading scorers.
Wirtz was later forced off in what was described as a key victory.
On-loan Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo, operating at right-back, supplied the cross for the opening goal.
Araujo denied Maxim De Cuyper with a header from a prone position on the floor.
