Eleven branches across Yorkshire, Tyne and Wear, Liverpool, the Midlands and Harrogate will shut in November, part of Lloyds Banking Group's drive to close 240 sites by 2027.

Two Yorkshire branches and one in Tyne and Wear will join a Liverpool branch shutting on November 9 as the North of England takes the heaviest blow. Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire sites will close alongside two Leicestershire branches in the Midlands. Harrogate will be the last affected, its branch shutting on November 19. Critics say those without internet banking or the means to travel further will suffer most.

Including Halifax, 17 Lloyds Banking Group branches will close in November.

The group says it now has more than 10 million app users.

Santander and NatWest are running their own major closure programmes.
