London bus and tram fares are rising by 10p to £1.85 from November in first increase since 2023

Transport for London is lifting the price of a single bus or tram journey by 10p to £1.85 from 1 November, ending a freeze that Sadiq Khan had extended as an emergency cost-of-living measure. The daily bus and tram cap rises 30p to £5.55, a significant hit for regular commuters. Tube, rail and Travelcard caps remain frozen until March 2027. At 35p above the fare of ten years ago, the 10p increase marks a notable cumulative shift.
Khan described the freeze as an 'emergency cost-of-living measure' as recently as this summer before allowing it to lapse.
Those holding concession cards face a smaller increase of 5p, while weekly passes will cost £26.10 and annual passes £1,044.
London's buses carry over five million passengers on an average day, so the higher fares will land almost simultaneously on millions of commuters.
