M&S and Tesco issue urgent 'do not eat' warning as salmonella outbreak linked to pistachio nuts hospitalises over 100

Supplier Greencore has recalled five products sold at Marks & Spencer and Tesco after salmonella bacteria was detected in pistachio nuts used as an ingredient. The Food Standards Agency has told shoppers not to eat the affected products and to return them for a full refund — no receipt needed. Three M&S salads and pesto products and two Tesco Pinch ready meals are affected, with use-by dates running from October 8 to October 13.

The three M&S products hit are 'Super Nutty Wholefood with a Soy & Ginger Dressing', 'Nutrient Dense Nutty Super Wholefood' and 'Fresh Collection Pistachio Pesto'.

Two Tesco Pinch ready meals — 'Poppin' Chicken Pasanda & Nutty Pilau Rice' and 'Bangin' Butter Chicken & Nutty Pilau Rice' — are also pulled, both with use-by dates up to October 10.

Anyone infected must stay home for at least 48 hours after symptoms stop to prevent spreading the illness to schools and workplaces.
