A man in his 50s was killed after being hit by multiple vehicles on the M2 coastbound carriageway near Medway Services in Kent at around 9.10pm on Tuesday. Kent Police confirmed he was a pedestrian and said his family has been notified. Detectives are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or captured it on dashcam to come forward.

The M2 remains closed in both directions, with the coastbound carriageway between junctions three and five not expected to reopen until 3.45pm–4pm.

Queues stretch back three miles on the London-bound side and two miles on the coastbound side, with knock-on congestion reaching the A249, A229 and A2 near Rainham.

One Sittingbourne driver said the tailback reached all the way to Wickes, calling it 'mayhem' — taking 30 minutes to travel half a mile.
