Macron bans 'illegitimate' protests and allows only union marches on Saturday after France's worst riots in years
Justice minister Gérald Darmanin said 217 people have been jailed in fast-track trials and 2,700 arrested over last weekend's looting. Lyon and Nice have imposed complete bans, and Interior Minister Jean-Didier Berger is to boost police deployments by 20%. President Emmanuel Macron blamed 'seditious' far-left groups he says aim to 'bring down the Republic'. Half of those detained had no prior criminal record.
Business owner Michele Teboul says looters ransacked 15 family stores, leaving five destroyed.
Teboul's warning to Macron: 'Next Saturday is your last chance to save France.'
