Macron brands Paris suburb shooting a 'terrorist and racist attack' after gunman kills one and wounds girl, 12
The suspect, identified only as Kévin T., born in 1987, was arrested within 20 minutes; police recovered a Sten-type submachine gun and tear gas from his vehicle. His apartment was found to be booby-trapped, with three gas cylinders wired to a timer. The 12-year-old girl suffered eight gunshot wounds. His rampage struck locations in Trappes and La Verrière, including a petrol station, a medical centre and a playground.
Under French law, his four prior convictions had been automatically wiped from the record.
Macron described victims as 'targeted because of their skin color or perceived religion.'
Trappes mayor Ali Rabeh said the man who died was of African origin.
