Woman, 36, is killed by a car fleeing police in Leeds city centre as a man, 19, is arrested
A social-media post about the fatal Leeds pursuit, as West Yorkshire Police's Homicide and Major Enquiry Team appeals for dashcam footage to help identify those who fled the abandoned Corsa on Nippet Lane.
A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a black Vauxhall Corsa, which had failed to stop for officers on Harehills Road, struck and killed a pedestrian on Beckett Street in Leeds just two minutes later. Officers subsequently discovered the car deserted on Nippet Lane, and at least two occupants had fled on foot.
West Yorkshire Police's Homicide and Major Enquiry Team is leading the investigation following the mandatory IOPC referral triggered by prior police involvement.
The vehicle has been seized for forensic examination as officers appeal for dashcam footage or witnesses to the collision.
The arrested man remains in custody; a second occupant of the Corsa is still being sought.
