Sean O'Reilly, 49, was shot twice in the shoulder and arm by two gunmen as he sat in his taxi in the Bell Steel Manor area of west Belfast on 23 February 2025. The unnamed 24-year-old suspect was arrested under the Terrorism Act in the Springfield Road area in the early hours of Wednesday and taken to Musgrave Serious Crime Suite for questioning. The attack was linked to a feud between dissident republicans, and the arrest followed a CCTV appeal in which police released unpixellated footage of a man they believed could assist the inquiry.

The suspect faces charges of attempted murder and a number of firearms offences.

He is expected to appear before Belfast Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

The PSNI's Major Investigation Team is asking anyone with information to call 101, quoting reference 664 of 23/02/25.
