The PSNI's Terrorism Investigation Unit seized multiple suspicious devices during two-day searches of properties on Shankill Road and Edwina Street on Friday and Saturday, leading to a local man's arrest and charge. Residents who had been evacuated as a precaution were able to return after all cordons were lifted on Saturday evening.

The man faces two counts of possessing explosives under suspicious circumstances and a further count of possessing a prohibited weapon capable of discharging electricity or noxious gas.

Ammunition technical officers attended the scene, and a substantial cordon was put in place in the Berlin Street area during the operation.
