Man, 43, is jailed for 23 years after standing over sleeping girl's bed with cable ties and duct tape

Christopher Buxey broke into a house in Rogate, Sussex, on the night of June 3–4, entering a 13-year-old girl's bedroom dressed head to toe in black, wearing a balaclava and latex gloves. He was holding looped cable ties when the girl woke screaming; a hammer and duct tape lay on her pillow, and ten more prepared ties were clipped to his belt. Portsmouth Crown Court sentenced him on October 15 to 18 years in prison plus five on licence after he pleaded guilty to offences across two counties.
The girl's parents ran to her room to find her kicking the masked intruder from her bed — and held Buxey until police arrived.
A separate Hampshire investigation led to Buxey pleading guilty to a range of child sexual offences, including sexual assault by penetration and making indecent images of children.
Detective Superintendent Colin Garman said Buxey had inflicted 'immensely distressing ordeals' on the victims and their families.
