Man, 48, is arrested as a dad who was shot breaking up a Woolwich road rage row fights for life
A 32-year-old lift engineer and father of three pulled over his van on France Street in Woolwich after spotting two drivers in a heated dispute and stepped in to calm things down. When he returned to his van and headed home, shots were fired into the vehicle; he is now brain dead with a one per cent chance of survival.
Officers found him with gunshot wounds in his parked car, and the London Air Ambulance airlifted him to an east London hospital.
The 48-year-old man arrested is suspected of attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, and remains in custody.
Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley of the Met's Specialist Crime Command called it 'a senseless act of violence' and urged anyone with information to contact police on 101, quoting CAD 6520/22OCT.
