A 58-year-old man was stabbed at around 10:30am on Friday after intervening to help a Boots security guard detain a shoplifter at the chain's Kilburn High Road branch in north London. He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect remains at large, with Met Police stating 'urgent enquiries are ongoing to locate the suspect.'

Officers and London Ambulance Service paramedics attended the pharmacy, which sits on the busy NW6 high street.

The incident reflects a broader surge in retail crime, with staff and members of the public facing knives with growing frequency when they confront shoplifters.
