Man, 59, is killed by a freight train in Washington state as two bystanders fail to free his stuck wheelchair

Richard Geiger, a Puyallup resident, was struck shortly after 2pm on Wednesday at the North Meridian crossing near the town's station. The Burlington Northern Santa Fe train hit before the pair could get him clear, and he died at the scene. Police Captain Jeremy Hedrick said it did not appear to be intentional. An early report that a witness was also hit turned out to be wrong.

Brother Bud Lordier: 'This is my little Brother Richie. He was 1 of 9 children.'
