Woman charged with manslaughter after gun fired in defence of US influencer sister ACCIDENTALLY killed her
Mackayla 'Kash' Paige, who had appeared on reality shows including 'Young & Reckless' and 'Real West Coast Baddies', was killed outside an Oakland nightclub when her sister allegedly fired a gun trying to protect her.
Vernika Dunbar, 38, is charged with involuntary manslaughter after allegedly trying to pistol-whip a woman fighting with her sister Mackayla 'Kash' Paige outside an Oakland nightclub — and accidentally firing the shot that killed her instead. The Alameda County District Attorney filed the felony charge, along with assault with a firearm and gun violations, after Paige, 29, was rushed to hospital and pronounced dead at around 1:35 a.m. on Sunday 11 October. Dunbar, who had been in custody since the shooting, is also charged with carrying a loaded firearm in public and a misdemeanour count of brandishing a weapon.
Kash — who appeared on 'Real West Coast Baddies', 'Room H8z' and 'Young & Reckless' — had posted Instagram videos enjoying her night out just hours before she was shot.
Cousin Charles Shavies said Kash 'was a beautiful young woman with big dreams, a bold personality, and a determination to make her mark on the world.'
Dunbar faces sentencing enhancements that could mean multiple years in prison if convicted on all charges.
