President Donald Trump compared the older rally-goer who threw the punch to Evander Holyfield, the boxing champion, who was present in the crowd at Clemson University. At least 12 hecklers disrupted Wednesday night's rally, and two were assaulted on camera. Trump dismissed the protesters as 'all paid' and 'a bunch of losers'. He was campaigning for Senator Darline Graham, sister of the late Lindsey Graham.

Critics branded his reaction 'depraved', the second such row in a matter of days.

Trump mocked the struck protester as 'a really unattractive guy'.
