Man tasered in Toby Carvery car park after erratic driving stop as pair arrested on child neglect suspicion

Greater Manchester Police deployed a taser against a man in the Toby Carvery car park in Chadderton after pulling over a vehicle seen driving erratically at 7.45pm on Friday. The driver turned aggressive when officers approached, prompting the use of the weapon. A search of the vehicle led to the man being arrested on suspicion of assaulting two officers, possessing class B drugs with intent to supply, and child neglect. A female passenger was taken into custody on the same child neglect suspicion; both are being held.
The Toby Carvery on Chadderton Park, Oldham, was closed for around an hour, with police vehicles and an ambulance present at the scene.
Witnesses said the man ran from officers before the taser was fired, and that he had tried to enter the restaurant beforehand.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed both suspects remain in custody for questioning.
