Man in his 30s is arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found dead in a wheelie bin on Plymouth Hoe

Paramedics alerted police at around 6.40am on Wednesday 21 October after finding a man in distress in a service lane off Grand Parade in West Hoe. He was found partly inside a wheeled bin and died at the scene. A formal identification has yet to be made. Forensic officers were seen examining the bin as cordons remained in place on Thursday.

Detective Inspector Chris Lithgow said the investigation 'is still an early stage'.

Grand Parade and Garden Crescent remain closed while officers search for evidence.

Devon and Cornwall Police have asked the public to refrain from sharing footage that could cause distress to the family.
