Man is jailed for six years for killing his father on Christmas Eve just HOURS after learning he was his son
'You're my dad but I don't want to know you,' Martin Greensmith, 37, told Steven Shevels, 61, at The Queen's Head in Willington, County Durham. Later, in the beer garden, he gave a 'powerful and aggressive push' that sent Mr Shevels crashing onto concrete. Jurors rejected his 'gentle push' self-defence claim and convicted him of manslaughter. Judge Jonathan Carroll said the victim posed 'absolutely no risk or threat'.
Greensmith fled before paramedics arrived, then searched 'involuntary manslaughter' on his phone.
A witness said the head hitting the ground sounded 'like dropping a coconut on concrete'.
Daughter Chloe heard of the death 'through gossip' while opening presents and now dreads Christmas.
