Man is killed and girl, one, fights for her life after a van smashes into their broken-down car in Hampshire

A 33-year-old van driver from Walsall was arrested on suspicion of causing death and serious injury by careless driving. He has been bailed with conditions until December 4. His Mercedes Sprinter struck the stationary Citroen Grand C4 Picasso on the southbound A34 near Sutton Scotney at 3.13pm on Friday. The Citroen's driver, a man in his 40s, died at the scene, and a woman and another child were hurt.

The Citroen broke down between Upper Bullington and Worthy Down, close to Sutton Scotney Services.

Police want dash-cam footage from southbound A34 drivers between 3pm and 3.20pm.

Detective Sergeant Oliver Cahill-Smith says footage from before the crash 'could be just as important'.
