Manhunt is launched after a man in his 30s dies in a suspected knife attack on a Dublin street
Gardaí found the victim lying badly hurt on the footpath at Blackhorse Place after a call from the public. He was rushed to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital but could not be saved. The attack is believed to have happened between 2am and 3.30am on Sunday, yards from McKee Army Barracks and the Phoenix Park. Detectives have seized CCTV from a nearby shop that was closed at the time.
Sinn Féin councillor Séamas McGrattan: 'Knife crime has become a real problem in our city.'
He demanded more gardaí on the streets: 'People must have the right to walk… without fear.'
Yellow evidence markers lined the footpath outside an apartment block taped off by forensics.
