Manhunt is under way for a masked gunman in red after a man is shot dead on a Manhattan subway platform

A gunman shot a man once in the chest at the northbound E train platform at Seventh Avenue and 53rd Street, then fled on foot heading north. The victim, thought to be in his 30s, was pronounced dead at Bellevue Hospital at 1:06pm on Saturday. According to NYPD officers, the confrontation began on the platform, moved onto a train, and ended back on the platform. No arrests have been made.

Surveillance images released by the NYPD show the suspect dressed in a black vest and black face mask.

The shooting occurred within easy walking distance of Broadway theatres and Carnegie Hall.
