Many are feared trapped after an 18-storey skyscraper collapses in Nairobi, Kenya, and police fire tear gas at looters
The tower was still under construction when it came down around lunchtime in Eastleigh, a crowded business and residential district of the Kenyan capital. Nairobi police chief Issa Mohamud said it had more than 10 upper floors being built. Businesses operated in the basement and builders were working on site. A small number of search-and-rescue teams are now combing the rubble.
Resident Abdi Aziz, 25, said many workers had gone to Friday prayers at the mosque.
