Mark Carney is credited with keeping Alberta in Canada after three in four voters reject a separation process

Prime Minister Mark Carney won over Canada's most conservative province by promising a pipeline and campaigning hard at rallies in Edmonton and Calgary. Unofficial Elections Alberta results show 75.2 per cent backed staying, against 24.8 per cent for a second, binding vote on secession. Premier Danielle Smith called the referendum. 'Mark Carney is the most popular politician in the province right now,' said Duane Bratt of Mount Royal University in Calgary.

Carney branded the referendum a 'dangerous bluff' and said Albertans had 'chosen unity'.

Forever Canadian founder Thomas Lukaszuk warned the world: 'Don't mess with Canada.'

Trump told a Kansas rally Canadians could keep ice hockey, then added: 'We're only kidding.'
