Canada's Mark Carney is credited after Alberta voters reject a separatist breakaway by three to one, boosting his stand against Trump

Unofficial results show 75.2 per cent of Albertans backed staying in Canada, against 24.8 per cent who wanted a second, binding vote on secession. The referendum was called by Alberta's conservative premier, Danielle Smith. Prime Minister Mark Carney, raised in Edmonton, had branded it a 'dangerous bluff' and won over voters with the promise of a pipeline. He said he was 'thrilled that Albertans have chosen unity'.
Forever Canadian campaign founder Thomas Lukaszuk warned the world: 'Don't mess with Canada.'
On polling day, Donald Trump told a Kansas rally Canada could keep its anthem, then added 'We're only kidding.'
US Ambassador Pete Hoekstra accused Carney of straining relations, insisting: 'We're not in a trade war.'
