Thorpe St Andrew School near Norwich, where a 16-year-old boy stabbed a 15-year-old girl in the back with a kitchen knife on 11 March before fleeing, has been found guilty of attempted murder.

A kitchen knife was the weapon he brought to school along with written notes expressing his hatred of women — his purpose, prosecutors argued, was murder rather than education. CCTV footage captured him stabbing the 15-year-old girl in the back at Thorpe St Andrew School near Norwich on 11 March before he fled, with a teacher in pursuit. Prosecutor Christopher Paxton KC described him as having an 'obsessive and dangerous interest in killers and killing'.

After three hours and 54 minutes of deliberation, jurors at King's Lynn Crown Court returned a majority guilty verdict.

Armed police responded to the school, which was placed in lockdown, and the girl's injuries proved minor.

The 16-year-old, who had arrived dressed in black and wearing a face mask, is due to be sentenced on 18 December.
