Masked Israeli settlers knock down a French mayor wearing his tricolour sash as European diplomats are attacked in the West Bank
Bernard Baudoux, mayor of Aulnoye-Aymeries, was assaulted in Taybeh while his attacker reportedly shouted 'Vive la France'. Seven men, some armed with clubs, also threatened Vincent Dollmann, the archbishop of Cambrai, and smashed the window of a Belgian armoured car. The IDF condemned the 'severe act of violence'. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office suggested a 'coordinated campaign to smear Israel'.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio urged Israel to 'crack down' on settler violence.
A day earlier, photographer Heidi Levine, 63, reportedly suffered a broken rib in a settler attack.
Settlers kicked a Palestinian woman in her 70s and stole olives before reaching the diplomats.
