The caped benefactor launched himself on September 22 with an Instagram video filmed in front of the London Eye: 'London, I am your Batman.' His account, @officiallondonsbatman, now has almost 100,000 followers. On October 16 he handed out £70 fuel vouchers at a south-east London petrol station, and motorists estimated he had put up to £3,500 towards their petrol. He has also filled in potholes outside a youth club.

He paid penalty charges for patients parked near Kingston Hospital in Richmond.

On the fines: 'That is a crime and Batman will fix it.'

YouTuber Niko Omilana told the BBC: 'I'm not Batman.'
