Masked teens hurl petrol bombs at riot police as Europe's student riots spread to cities across Italy

In Turin, police fired water cannon and tear gas into Piazza Castello after youths pelted them with rocks and bottles. In Rome, students threw firecrackers and smoke bombs at the Ministry of Education, chanting 'Valditara, get out of the building!' Billed as 'No Meloni Day', the unrest also hit Genoa, Venice, Padua and Treviso. Crowds chanted 'Money for schools, not for war!'

Rome police say they are using video footage to identify the violent rioters.

Protesters targeted Giorgia Meloni's new law limiting foreign pupils with poor Italian.

One clip shows students rocking a police van to try to flip it over.
