Mass Effect and Dragon Age studio BioWare is to close as Electronic Arts cuts around 400 jobs

Electronic Arts has informed employees that the upcoming Mass Effect title is cancelled. Around 50 of the approximately 400 redundancies are at BioWare, with the remainder distributed across the wider company. Work on Project Lotus, a Sims game, has been suspended, and staffing on the Skate team is being scaled back. EA says it intends to concentrate its resources and personnel on a smaller number of large-scale titles.

The redundancies represent approximately 3 per cent of EA's total workforce.

Battlefield, Apex Legends, Star Wars Jedi and Marvel's Iron Man all retain their funding.

EA's memo said it had reviewed 'what it will take to lead in this next era'.
