Massachusetts Republican lieutenant governor candidate is told to quit by his own running mate after a drunk-driving arrest
Shawn Oliver's SUV flipped over and slammed into parked cars on Dartmouth Street in New Bedford around 11:40pm on Saturday, with five vehicles involved. The New Bedford city councillor was treated at St Luke's Hospital before police arrested him. He faces charges of operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation, speeding and a marked lanes violation.
Governor hopeful Mike Minogue: 'There is no excuse for driving under the influence.'
Minogue vowed to demand Oliver's resignation if their ticket wins.
Democratic Mayor Jon Mitchell urged Oliver to address the arrest publicly.
