Matheus Cunha's late brace seals Manchester United's comeback from 2-0 down against Roma and eases pressure on Michael Carrick

United's worst start to a season in 40 years looked set to worsen as Roma stormed into a 2-0 lead at Old Trafford, with fans cascading green and gold anti-Glazer balloons from the Stretford End before kick-off. Bruno Fernandes converted a retaken penalty to halve the deficit, before Cunha struck twice in three minutes — the second a clinical finish off the inside of the near post — to complete a stunning turnaround.

Cunha's double celebration earned him two rapid yellow cards, leaving United to hold on with ten men in the final minutes.

Carlos Baleba was carried off in tears with a hamstring injury, with Carrick warning it 'doesn't look great' — a blow to a squad already struggling for stability.
