Maths teacher who called a pupil a 'little s***' and pushed him against a wall is banned from classrooms

CCTV showed Christopher Clarkson, 44, using his size to corner a boy in a corridor at The de Ferrers Academy in Burton-upon-Trent, Staffordshire, in October 2024. A misconduct panel found he also shoved a second pupil in the chest. Police investigated, and the school sacked him on 4 March 2025. He did not attend the hearing, and he can apply to return to teaching after five years.

The pupil told police he was swung into a wall and a door and banged his head.

Clarkson admitted there was 'a lot of swearing back and forth' between him and the student.

The panel ruled he showed 'unnecessary and disproportionate violence towards a pupil'.
