Mia Perry Bowick, sister of the late Matthew Perry, has broken down in tears in her first public interview, speaking in the new Netflix docuseries 'The One About Matthew Perry', which debuted on 27 October. She revealed Perry spent $7 million trying to get sober, and said he saw his Chandler Bing character as a mirror of himself — both men "trying to distract everybody from how miserable they were all the time by being funny." The documentary reconstructs his final hours on 28 October 2023, when he played pickleball, watched a film, and was found face down in his hot tub at 4pm.
None of the five Friends cast members participated in the documentary, though Mia revealed they arrived together at his small, private funeral.
Perry's live-in assistant Kenneth Iwamasa and dealer Jasveen Sangha, known as the 'Ketamine Queen', were among five people sentenced to federal prison over his death.
Mia said she sensed Perry's presence at the funeral, imagining him whispering: 'How f***ed up is this?'
