Mia Perry Bowick, sister of the late Matthew Perry, who revealed in Netflix docuseries 'The One About Matthew Perry' that he spent $7 million trying to get sober.
Mia Perry Bowick, sister of the late Friends actor Matthew Perry, has spoken publicly for the first time since his October 2023 death, disclosing that he spent $7 million in pursuit of sobriety while privately wrestling with a profound inner emptiness that fame was never able to fill. The three-part Netflix docuseries 'The One About Matthew Perry', directed by Mary Robertson, debuted on 27 October and draws on testimony from Perry's closest friends and family.
Mia described being seated in the front row at the funeral as all five Friends cast members entered together, gathered around the casket hand in hand, and broke down in tears.
None of the five co-stars — Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc or David Schwimmer — agreed to be interviewed for the documentary, though the director confirmed they were all invited.
Perry's father, actor John Bennett Perry, also did not appear; Mia explained that his health had been in decline for some time and he was not well enough to take part.
