The truce is due to begin on 29 October, letting aid in and elderly residents out through a designated safe passageway. Around 2,000 people remain in the blockaded town, down from roughly 24,000 before the war. The Kremlin has confirmed the deal and says it is working with Kyiv on evacuation timing. Russia has also agreed to three-way peace talks with the US and Ukraine in the UAE next month.
