Russia and Ukraine agree a Melania Trump-brokered ceasefire to let aid into Oleshky, where starving residents eat dogs and grass

Some 2,000 people, including about 50 children, are trapped in a city that was once home to 24,000. They have no food, water or electricity. Anyone fleeing must cross a mined 'road of death' patrolled by drones. Ukraine's chief negotiator Dmytro Lubinets says the local truce will start on Tuesday, before mine clearance, aid deliveries and evacuations begin.

Shadow minister Alicia Kearns called Oleshky a 'human killing field' run by Russian troops.

Melania Trump faces backlash for not crediting Pope Leo XIV, who also urged a ceasefire.

Kyiv and Moscow are expected to hold fresh peace talks in Abu Dhabi in mid-November.
