Christopher Buxey, 43, who broke into a family home carrying pre-looped cable ties and a rucksack of similar kit before standing over a 13-year-old girl's bed, has been jailed for 18 years.

Christopher Buxey broke into a house in Rogate, Sussex, in the early hours of June 4, crept to the bedroom of a 13-year-old girl wearing all-black clothing, a balaclava and latex gloves, and stood over her bed holding pre-looped cable ties — with a hammer placed on her pillow. Her screams drew her parents to the room, where they found her kicking the intruder away and held Buxey themselves until police arrived. Portsmouth Crown Court sentenced him on October 15 to 18 years in prison plus five years on licence.

Buxey arrived prepared to restrain a victim, carrying ten further cable ties clipped to his belt alongside duct tape and a rucksack of similar tools.

He also admitted multiple child sex offences in a separate Hampshire investigation, including sexual assaults, penetration offences, and making indecent images of children.

Detective Superintendent Colin Garman said Buxey had inflicted 'immensely distressing ordeals' on victims and their families.
