Met admits it did not pass a 2019 letter with abuse claims against Meghan's father to other police forces
Scotland Yard's Protection Command received the letter in January 2019 over fears for the Duchess of Sussex's security. Officers handed it to her office 'for their awareness' and went no further. The force is now considering referring itself to the IOPC. Philippine authorities are investigating claims Thomas Markle Sr, 82, kept child abuse images, which he denies and calls 'sick lies'.
Meghan said she was assured in 2018 the allegations 'were being investigated'.
Her spokesman conceded she 'may have been mistaken by a few months' on dates.
The IOPC says the Met has not yet contacted it.
