Met Police take no action against national security adviser's wife over her Palestine Action post despite campaigners' outrage

Campaign Against Antisemitism asked whether backing a proscribed terror group is illegal only for 'an ordinary person'. Sarah Helm, wife of Prime Minister Andy Burnham's national security adviser Jonathan Powell, wrote on X: 'God help us authors who support Palestine and Palestine Action.' Specialist officers ruled it 'did not meet the criminal threshold'. Supporting the group carries up to 14 years in prison.
Helm was reacting to Faber pulling Sally Rooney's books from UK sale.
Campaigners called her post 'gobsmacking' and said Powell must denounce it to stay in post.
Downing Street said Helm 'does not represent the government in any capacity'.
