Met Police will take no action against the wife of the PM's security adviser over her banned Palestine Action post

Sarah Helm, the journalist married to national security adviser Jonathan Powell, posted on X: 'God help us authors who support Palestine and Palestine Action.' Specialist officers ruled it 'did not meet the criminal threshold'. Supporting the group, banned as a terrorist organisation in July 2025, carries up to 14 years in prison. The Campaign Against Antisemitism had demanded a police investigation.
Helm was defending author Sally Rooney, whose novels will no longer be sold in the UK.
The Campaign Against Antisemitism said the post 'raises extremely serious questions for Jonathan Powell'.
Downing Street said Helm 'does not represent the Government in any capacity'.
