Met reportedly misplaced 2019 letter containing abuse claims against Thomas Markle and had to ask Meghan for her copy
Kitebrook School in the Cotswolds, named as the prep school attended by Archie and Lilibet, as the Met weighs whether to refer itself to the police watchdog over its handling of claims against Thomas Markle Sr.
Thomas Markle's late ex-wife Roslyn Loveless is understood to have sent the handwritten letter to Scotland Yard in January 2019. The Met passed it to the Sussexes' office but never shared the allegations with any other law enforcement agency. The force is now reviewing its handling and weighing a referral to the IOPC watchdog. Meghan is said to be 'upset and really frustrated'.
Jim Gamble warned children may have suffered abuse for 'seven years' because of the failure.
Ex-royal protection chief Dai Davies called the Met's handling 'bizarre to put it mildly'.
Markle, 82, denies any wrongdoing and calls the latest accusations 'sick lies'.
