Michael Douglas, 82, has confessed in his forthcoming memoir 'One Helluva Ride' that he and co-star Kathleen Turner began a secret love affair while filming 'Romancing the Stone' in Mexico in 1984 — and that both lied about it publicly for four decades. Douglas writes that he would slip into Turner's hotel room after exhausting days on set, keeping the relationship hidden from director Robert Zemeckis, co-star Danny DeVito and the entire cast and crew. Turner, now 72, has not denied the affair, responding with characteristic wit: "Good heavens, what a fuss about something 40 years ago — I love Michael and I look forward to enjoying the book."
Douglas says the lie was deliberate, writing that it was "meant to protect my wife and son."
The affair ended when his first wife Diandra visited the Mexican set and made clear to Turner that she did not consider the couple separated.
Douglas claims both he and Diandra were having extramarital affairs at the time, and the pair eventually divorced in 1995.
